"Sonny's Blues"

This story starts out with the narrator reading in a paper about his brother.

The narrator uses a lot of short sentences. The short sentences help to set up the story in dialog between the narraor and another person. The setting is a man is arrested for drugs and his brother is reading about it. The brother has not seen his younger brother for some time. He meets a guy on the subway who talks with him about the life of the arrested brother.

The narrator is looking at this incident from an unknown view of the life that his brother has been involved in. The guy that he meets on the subway shares this life with him, he lives there also. This is painful, but necessary in order to understand the story of "Sonny's Blues".
